Speaker Bio

Jon is a 5th year PhD student in the Global Engineering and Research (GEAR) center at MIT. He works on renewable desalination in resource-constrained scenarios. His thesis work is on photovoltaic electrodialysis desalination, and he is exploring using the technology for produced water.
His work recently included developing a high-productivity direct-drive (batteryless) control scheme for electrodialysis desalination with variable power, such as from renewable energy sources.
His broader areas of expertise include machine design, optimization, machine learning, and control. Aside from research and engineering, Jon is a volunteer EMT.
